The found out that the retinoic acid was very effective in turning precancerous cells back to normal healthy cells. The retinoic acid changed the genetic composition of the precancerous cells to that of the normal cells completely doing away with the possibility of the precancerous cells turning cancerous.
However the vitamin A component, Retinoic acid failed to make any change on the cancerous cells. Therefore Vitamin A can only help in fighting cancer at one stage; at the precancerous stage. The study also found out that the most effective concentration of the retinoic acid in fighting cancer is about 1 micro molar. Lower concentrations do not produce any positive change. Higher concentrations are also not effective in this course.
